We’re going to discussing the games that will be coming out in the year to come, and there are many more where these titles came from, including some surprise sequels.
Let’s talk about these games that are bound to blow you all away!
BioWare’s Last Stand: Anthem
This game is scheduled to be released on February 22, 2022. Everyone has been waiting with anticipation. Anthem’s release had been delayed, but it’s finally coming and still on point for this listed date. Rumor has it that it’s been tested on PlayStation 5 instead of 4, but it has not yet been confirmed. This game can be described as a Destiny-like shooter, and it will have players going up against monsters and natural threats. You will be able to choose your character class, each separate class having different types of suits. Hopefully this game will wow you over its predecessors and competitors that are suffering from drawbacks.
Days Gone
Days Gone will be making its way to the Sony PS4 console on April 26, 2022 changed from its original deadline of February 22, 2022. It is a single-player, open-world, action-adventure game set in a post-apocalyptic world. Players will be fighting off zombies called Freakers, but Days Gone is predicted to set itself apart from other games of the genre.

Metro: Exodus
This first-person shooter is scheduled for release on February 22, 2022, as well. The Metro series is based off of Dmitry Glukhovsky’s novels. You have a little over two months to catch up on the game’s previous titles, and it’s necessary to understand Metro’s awesome story. In previous games, players have been surviving subway tunnels. Exodus is taking this continuation into the streets becoming more of an open-word, survival horror game giving players more freedom.
Tom Clancy’s The Division 2
The Division 2 will be released on March 15, 2022, available for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One platforms. This multiplayer shooter that rumors to be bigger and better than ever. You won’t ever be bored with the player-vs-player Dark Zone returning in full swing. There will also be plenty of raids and free expansions. Massive Entertainment has definitely taken the complaints players had for the first game to heart.
Devil May Cry 5
This Devil May Cry sequel follows the events of the previous game and will be launched sometime before April. It will be available for PS4, Xbox One, and Stream. This action game will be made more stylish and polished in terms of modern gaming.
Fire Emblem: Three Houses
Let’s jump to the tactical role-playing genre for a moment. Fire Emblem is releasing a new title for the Nintendo Switch sometime in 2022. It is a single-player game, but you won’t be handling hordes of enemies alone. In Fire Emblem: Three Houses, your character will be accompanied by nameless NPCs that will help take on the other side’s forces
Psychonauts 2
Available on many platforms – PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Microsoft Windows, OS X, and Linux – Psychonauts 2 will be hitting the stores on December 31, 2022, not technically 2022, but close enough. You can start your year off right playing as psychic-powered kids dealing with the challenges of a graduated Psychonaut. There will be plenty of puzzles, and the graphics will be topnotch. Game play will be similar to its precursory game in this third-person game.
Wasteland 3
This upcoming, role-playing video game will hit the shelves sometime in 2022, and it will be available for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Microsoft Windows, OS X, and Linux platforms. Yes, that’s right. This long-awaited, follow-up game is finally coming. The game play will consist of turn-based tactical combat from a top-down perspective. Multiplayer option allows for you to play with a buddy. Be prepared to open it up for game night.
In the Valley of the Gods
Similar to Firewatch, this adventure game is set in Egypt in the 1920s. You’ll be searching for ancient treasures as Rashida alongside your former partner, Zora, solving puzzles in this single-player, first-person video game. It is still scheduled to be released in 2022, though a set date has not been given.
Cyberpunk 2077
This highly awaited single-player, role-playing game has no set date, but 2022 is most likely its release year, most likely this June. Not much is known about this game. The only information we’ve been given is that it’s an open-world metropolis with a multilingual community. There will be a multiplayer mode as well.
The Surge 2
The Surge 2 will be available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC platforms. This third-person, melee action game will be reminiscent of Dark Souls 3. Still, The Surge 2 is a bit more tactical, bringing back elements that allow you to target certain parts of the enemy’s body. It will bring back the fundamentals that made the first game great while throwing the players into a whole new environment. Get ready!
Skulls and Bones
Skulls and Bones is an action game that takes Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag’s pirate elements, turning them into a game of their very own. You’ll be able to build your pirate kingdom on the high seas sometime in 2022. There will be both single-player and multiplayer content. So, be ready to live like a pirate in the upcoming year. Argh!
Resident Evil 2
In this survival horror game, the enemies will be tougher than ever before. It is scheduled to be released for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Windows consoles and platforms alike on January 25, 2022. Resident Evil 2 is a generation remake of one of the franchise’s best games. With polished effects, it will bring that old favorite into modern time.
Kingdom Hearts III
I have friends who have not been able to stop talking about this game, and for good reason. This long-anticipated game is scheduled for release in a few short months, January 29, 2022. In this action role-play, Sora, Goofy, and Donald will be journeying through many worlds including Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean, Hercules, Frozen, Tangled, and Big Hero 6, and Pixar’s Toy Story and Monster’s Inc. There will even be a big surprise. I’m getting excited already. Kingdom Hearts III will be available for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles.
Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order
This Star Wars game will be in stores around the holiday season in 2022, perfect timing considering the movie will be out as well. The platform is “to be announced,” meaning we have no idea which systems will be able to play it. What we do know is that Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order will take place immediately after the events of Revenge of the Sith. You’ll be playing as a padawan dealing with the Order 66’s fallout. That’s about all we know, but that’s enough to create intrigue for this game. May the force be with you!
Ori and the Will of the Wisps
Ori and the Will of the Wisps is an upcoming, platform adventure, Metroidvania video game scheduled for launch for Microsoft Windows and Xbox One in 2022. The graphics look great, but the overall style of the game is generally the same as Ori and the Blind Forest. The colors are more vivid, and the characters and environment are more detailed and crisp.
Luigi’s Mansion 3
Giving the Nintendo Switch some love, Luigi’s Mansion 3 will be re-released on the Switch in 2022. It will be the franchise’s first console launch since the GameCube. Luigi will navigate through a haunted mansion, getting rid of all the ghosts he may find, reminiscent of Ghostbusters. Not much is known about this re-release, but that’s all right. It’s just exciting to see another exciting remake for the Switch coming out, especially after the Let’s Go Pokémon games.

Get Ready to Play
As I said, 2022 is a great year for gamers, and there are so many titles we haven’t even touched yet. Nioh, Gears, Crackdown, Dead or Alive, Animal Crossing, Yoshi, and Spelunky are but a few of the other titles being launched. Even Castlevania is coming back with a brand new game that differs in name, Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night. There’s a lot to look forward to in the year ahead. Gamers, get ready to play. You’ll be doing it all year long.
